I can't get used to having all this free, unstructured time. Today is Friday... and I have absolutely nothing to do. I should stop by the club fair at some point, and buy the rest of my books...
but no one cares when. I should do homework at some point, I suppose. It's so wierd to not go to school at 8 and get out at 3. Big adjustment for me.Last night I ended up going to this bar, The
West End, with Rabia and Roxanna. It's about two blocks down and apparently where EVERYONE at Columbia goes on Thursdays. So we went. It was sort of boring, so we stayed for an hour, then kind of
walked around. Later Rabia and I went to her room to watch Pirates, but we got tired and only watched about an hour of it.Today I woke up around 11:30. I'm waiting for Rabia so we can go down to
the Club Fair. Jen and Kristen are already there. It's finally sunny after days of rain. I intend to spend some time outside.

Okay, so today was fine. I finally filed my program, meaning I've finally officially signed up for my courses. My schedule is this:Monday/Wednesday:11am - Freshman Seminar, Reacting to the
Past2:40pm - Intro to the Early Middle AgesTuesday/Thursday:8am - Aerobics and Body Sculpting2:40- Dynamics of American Politics4:10 - Political Theory I6pm - Barnard/Columbia ChoirSo that's good.
I feel accomplished, now that I know my schedule. My classes today were good. At 7 I auditioned for this a capella group, but they only need like 3 people and so many auditioned, so I doubt it.
Then I went to dinner with Rabia and her friend Roxanna. We went to this cute little Mexican restaurant. Now I'm hanging out with Jen and Kristen. Rabia's on her way down with a Pirates of the
Caribbean dvd, so that will be fun. Otherwise not much else happening. Tomorrow I'll probably sleep in, then go to the registrar's office with Jen, then do homework for most of the day. I have lots
of reading to do. At some point I have to go to Labyrinth, the book store, and finish buying my text books. So that's all. Life is good. I'm glad it's the weekend.

It's so cold! I'm not used to this, and it's scaring me a little that it's this cold in September! What the hell is the winter going to be like? I miss the tropics! I miss living in hot, humid
weather all year 'round. This is miserable! And, I have to read 42 pages of Plato's Republic for tomorrow! Not thrilled. And I have to buy so many books!

Today was good.Did absolutely nothing. Two girls from my hall came in to watch a Rent bootleg with Jen, Kristen, and I. It was fun. People heard the music and kept stopping in. Classes start
tomorrow. Columbia has a student website for rating the professors... and it's pretty harsh. My Prof for American Government apparently blows... the advice was to bring a pillow. The other guy who
teaches it sounds like a cross between Baker and Dodge, and I would love to take it from him, but he's full. I might wait until next semester, but I need to take a poli sci course this semester so
I can get a head start on the major. I don't know. We've been listening mostly to rent related stuff. One of Joshua's gigs, which is great... Adam's CD, which I love, but Jen doesn't. I stocked up
on tons of CDs before I got here, but haven't really listened to them much. Tons of Bob Seger, U2, Bruce Springsteen, etc. Although we did hear Joshua doing "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking
For". And hopefully soon, by request, "With or Without You". He's so good.I keep intending to organize the room, but it hasn't happened yet. It will soon. Tomorrow before classes. I don't have
class until One-ish, so that's fine. I'm really tired. I need to go to bed soon. I'm sure once we get into a schedule it'll be better, but my sleep schedule has been all over the place. Okay, so to
bed with me. More tomorrow.

I haven't posted in over two months!!The summer was great... I had a wonderful time in Europe with Peter, and in Virginia with all my friends. It was great to be in one place for most of the
summer, and to have time to get ready for college. I'm there now... at Barnard, and so far, I love it. I moved in on monday, and so far, no classes, so it feels like camp... with lots of parties.
On Tuesday classes start, so things may change.I got the world's most perfect roommate, and we appear to have everything in common, most importantly, Rent! We think it was fate that we ended up
together, because we feel the same way about almost everything, so that's great. I don't forsee any problems whatsoever in that area. I've been hanging out with Rabia and Angela, too, and I see
James and Charles and Greg around a lot. It's nice to see those familiar faces... comforting almost. I went to Rent tonight, and it was great. I was just so happy to see it when I hadn't in a year.
I was homesick for Rent... Rentsick I guess! I don't think I would have survived if I hadn't picked a college in the city. I need my "rent fix" way too often. It was Cary and Maggie's last... so
more emotional than usual. Jen's friends are great. It's nice to finally meet people as obsessed as I am! I knew they were out there somewhere, just didn't know where to find them!! I really miss
people from S'pore. I'm not used to the idea that I'm not going back soon to start school. It's hard to adjust to the fact that my life is here now. I keep thinking this is a temporary thing, but
it's not. Not that it's a bad thing, just hard to get used to. I intend to join tons of clubs right away so I can meet as many people as possible. And so far, that's it... not much happening
besides meeting tons of new people, and getting to know Barnard, Columbia, and NYC. It's great so far!
